What is
Right Understanding?

In the Sammādiṭṭhi Sutta (MN 9), the Buddha teaches that Right Understanding involves comprehending the Four Noble Truths: the nature of suffering (dukkha), its origin, its cessation, and the path leading to its cessation.

This understanding is foundational to the path of liberation.

How We Cultivate
Right Understanding

To nurture this skill, our students are guided through a process that goes far beyond memorising facts or debating opinions. They engage with carefully selected current events and evolving global trends, using these as springboards to explore deeper questions of morality, purpose, and interconnectedness.

Through a series of structured challenges and thought-provoking knowledge forums, students are invited to test their understanding in ways that stretch their perspectives and sharpen their discernment. At the heart of this practice lies a simple yet profound discipline: to observe without haste, to reflect with clarity, and to question with courage — unlocking insights that shape not only how they think, but who they become.

Parents Role

Parents play a vital role by exposing their children to the world through daily discussions, sharing perspectives on current events, and explaining the “whys” and “hows” behind everyday occurrences. Even simple activities, like exploring why certain family traditions exist or discussing ethical dilemmas, nurture awareness and critical thinking in children.

Parents are a child's number 1 teacher.

Testimonials

Right Understanding showed me that there are many different ways people live and think. By being open to new ideas and perspectives, I began to see the world as more connected and full of opportunities to learn from others.

  |Linda, Year 9

Right understanding helped broaden my view on the world, because without it I wouldn't have any idea of the events happening outside of my narrow life. It taught me to be self-aware, to be educated, and to have autonomy over my own decisions.
